Mastic (drop gum) is a soft resin from pistachio trees and bushes of the species Pistacia lentiscus, which is native to the Mediterranean region. It has a spicy taste. Mastic (drop gum) has an astringent, antiseptic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect. Mastic is used in Turkish cuisine for various desserts, sweets, cakes, drinks, ice cream, or as chewing gum.
